Clemens, Samir, and Proposition Joe...

So, anyone want a 7-time Cy Young winner? Tough call, really, as I am sure Houston would want Danks or Diamond. I would hang up the phone when it gets there, but if they wanted C Young (not Cy, but Chris) or Nix, or Adrian Gonzalez, or Ricardo Rodriguez? Let’s talk…

Here is a Samir email:

Bob,

I was wondering why you kept referring to Proposition Joe all the time until I figured out you were referring to CoCo. That's genius. I knew he reminded me of somebody.

Ah, good times...

I can't decide if I should be nervous over the Bullpen meltdown yesterday. There is no doubt that it WAS a total meltdown, but was this just the law of averages catching up to the Rangers or is this going to be a season long trend?

On a side note, Eckland, the internet muse of a dead sport made it on the show for a full segment?!!? Good Grief, I'm available to comment on the Michael Jackson trial Bob!!

Since we've been blessed with the pictures of Grubes, how about a few of the great Philly Phan Meredith?

Chris Young? Ricardo Rodriguez? Ughh. How can you give up the future of this organization which has haphazardly brought up pitchers through its farm system and had nothing to show for it for a 43-year old guy who probably won't win you a world series. Clemens is no good to this team if they lose in the wildcard round. If Clemens pushes Houston, they will take whatever they can get. How about we trade Mark Texiera for Tino Martinez while we're at it. Idiot.

The Ranger game isn't on TV Saturday because the Royals decided to play the game during Fox's national blackout time. No other baseball can be broadcst on any tv channel during the time Fox's afternoon baseball runs. This is supposed to be the only time this year this happens.

Bob your rational on the Clemens thing doesn't make sense to me. You won't give up Danks, but you'll give up Chris Young? I realize Chris needs to put in a full year of this before we can feel confident in him, but do you realize Danks just pitched his first game above A ball? The odds of Danks ever even doing what Young is doing are still rather long.

Plus, if you give up Young, you're still stuck with either Drese or the Ho in your possible playoff rotation, whereas if you give up Danks you have Clemens, Rogers and Young as your main starters.

I give up Danks, Agon and Arias in a heartbeat.

Also, Gramps is a moron. We wouldn't even include Mench in a trade for Clemens, much less Blalock. And I doubt Houston is high enough to even bring up Blalock. Besides, they already have Ensberg.

Bob,

If the way to get good ratings is have a popular lead in, then how do you guys do it?

Seriously, how can you guys have good ratings (especially with the ladies) with THIS STUPID, HORRIBLE LEAD IN TO YOUR SHOW?!?!?! It is such a beating having someone use irrational arguments and get on his moral high horse just to be a contrarian (I know you need HSOs, even if you don't truly believe them, for good ratings, but PLEASE).

Anyone near downtown have a revolver?

giving up young for half a season of clemens would be moronic....he is proving that he can be a number 3 or even number 2 starter capable of an era in the 3 neigborhood and about 15 wins. that is exactly the kind of thing the old rangers would do. i say, keep him and your high end prospects, and only take clemens if they basically want to give him to you.

I have to agree with Jared, I find fault in your logic about Chris Young. Your willingness to give up a 22 yr old who is showing signs of figuring it out(in the majors), opposed to guys who have just started pitching above A ball...

You know Young leads the majors in rookie e.r.a.

Also check out Rodriguez's numbers last year in the majors before his elbow was shattered by a line drive

if we get rid of chris young, he'll be our new doug davis....watching the box scores, seeing him win 15-18 games a year, while clemens will be long gone.

You have to get Clemens now. You give up one of the 2 young pitchers and Gonzalez. This team is ready to win and who knows what this team will look like when those 2 guys are finally ready to pitch. Tex won't be here, Soriano probably won't either.
Bottom line: You have to do whatever it takes for this team to win right now.

Bob,

Glad you had the note about Liverpool. My brother in law, Simon, is thrilled to death of course. As for my beloved Leicester, they were set to sign a striker named "Jari Sturm", which struck me as kismet, but he failed the physical.

Glad to see you are still a fan of the game. I'm living in Austin now, and, to be completely honest, the Ticket is probably the only thing I miss about Dallas.

Take care,

Bob,
I was a little shocked by these comments from your blog yesterday. "Also, please don’t ask me to add your personal blog to my links. I want to keep it to blogs I actually read regularly. I would likely put your link up just to stop you from bothering me, and then, the readers of this site would be misled into thinking that I think your blog is really good, when, in reality, I am just trying to get you to leave me alone. No offense intended."

Excuse me for stepping on your highness's toes. I have been promoting your blog since just about day one. It's a good blog, but I think you posted my blog once, but I didn't know you just wanted to get me off your back.

Have a good one Bob. I still enjoy the blog.

Lew-

Perhaps you misunderstood my post; I wasn't claiming I would not post a particular post from someone's blog, as I have done that numerous times. I just reserve the right to give a permanent home on the right side of the site to whomever I darn well please. And I darn well please to give it to those who I deem as "top notch" blogs. I don't plan to give those links to bloggers who just started last week, or post about their cat, or post three times a month. Last time I checked, that would be the prerogative of he who has the blog. You can either live with that, or claim you are shocked and call me names that indicate I am high and mighty.

But, I would think for all of the times I have taken to interact with you, Lew, in person, in email, on the message boards, it would seem you would not feel that way. Whatever.
